E-App New Application Jurisdiction Carrier Annuity type

Practice Client, 3 Nov 2026: New Application opens for Texas with three filters: Jurisdiction, Carrier and Annuity type.

Open E-App in Genius (opens the app in a new tab)

In the app: E-App

The New Application page: jurisdiction, carrier and annuity type filters, for the Practice Client in Texas. (opens full size in a new tab)
  1. 1.

Confirm owner, annuitant, beneficiary, home state and exact birth date. Wrong state or birth date? Click the pencil, then Update Client.

    Annuitant
The person whose life the payments are based on.

Example: Compliance check flagged the birth date as a placeholder. E-App says it prefills from your client's data.

  2. 2.

Give the client the Buyer's Guide and the insurer's disclosure document at or before the application. An illustration does not replace them.

    Buyer's Guide
A consumer guide to annuities from the NAIC, the group of state insurance regulators.
    Disclosure document
The insurer's own summary of what the contract promises, what it does not, and what it costs.

Face to face, hand them over before the client signs. Otherwise ask the insurer: rules vary by state and product.

  3. 3.

Pick the route for the money. IRA: trustee transfer. Employer plan: direct rollover. Old annuity or life policy: 1035 exchange. Savings: check or wire.

    Trustee transfer
IRA money moves straight from one firm to another. It never passes through the client.
    Direct rollover
Employer plan money goes straight to the new plan or IRA. It is not paid to the client.
    1035 exchange
A tax-deferred swap of one annuity for another, or a life policy for an annuity, insurer to insurer. Cash paid to the owner can make it taxable.

First check the product takes this money: Annuity info, Purchase, Eligible Funding Sources. A 1035 exchange is a replacement too. Ask the insurer which transfer forms go with it.

  4. 4.

In E-App, New Application, check Jurisdiction and Carrier, pick the product. Set ownership, tick It's a replacement if so, click Create Application.

Go through the pages, click Find Errors, fix what it flags, submit. The case in E-App then reads Complete.

The E-App list with no applications yet, and a New Application button. (opens full size in a new tab)
You're done when the facts are confirmed, the papers are handed over and the application is submitted. The client knows each step for the money.
Watch out: A direct transfer avoids tax now. A check paid to the client can mean withholding and tax. A 60-day rollover has strict rules. Replacing an annuity? Follow your state's replacement rules and forms: Replacement paperwork. Ask both firms how long it takes. Ask if the old firm needs a signature guarantee from a bank, credit union or broker.
