Check the insurer first, then answer "what if it fails?"

A guarantee is only as good as the company behind it. Check the rating, and answer the failure question without selling.

Carrier Grid Rating A- or higher

Practice Client, 3 Nov 2026: Carrier Grid with A- or higher set shows 65 carriers, each with year founded, A.M. Best and Comdex.

Open Carrier Grid in Genius (opens the app in a new tab)

In the app: Marketplace → Carrier Grid

  1. 1.

Find the insurer of your top row and read its year founded, A.M. Best and Comdex.

    Comdex
A score that combines several ratings into one number.

A carrier founded in 2021 and rated A- held the top MYGA rates: carrier before rate.

  2. 2.

On a row in Income rider calculator, open the three dots, Annuity info, Highlights. Note the ratings' date and the Launch date.

A new "unique" product has a short record. Ask how long its rates have been published.

  3. 3.

Give the answer in three layers. One, the rating with its agency and date. Two, ask the insurer about reinsurance and service.

No Genius screen in this lesson shows reinsurance or service. Do not state them from memory.

  4. 4.

Three, the state guaranty association. Check your state's limits and never quote one from memory.

Never use it to sell. Many states bar that, and it is not federal deposit insurance.

You're done when you can say who rated your top insurer, and when. Then you can answer "what if it fails?" in three layers.
Watch out: Ratings change, and so do guaranty limits. Check both before every sale. A- is Excellent at A.M. Best, but only the fourth step of its secure range.
